WHO ARE WE?

Tannas Electronic Displays, Inc. (TED) has been resizing LCDs and licensing the process for over 10 years. TED specializes in research and development of resizing and provides a glass cutting service for all interested parties. TED’s licensees specialize in cutting LCDs and value added by putting resized LCDs in custom products as a part of their product line. The market application for resized LCDs is separated into two parts. 1) Aerospace and Industrial Market where the application is used to control and monitor the performance of computers and machines within the simulator, aerospace, marine, vehicle, industrial and military markets. The displays are usually less that 15 inches in diagonal and the volume per order is usually less than a 100. 2) Digital Signage Market where resized LCDs are used for advertisement, information, entertainment and education signage and traffic control signage. The displays are usually larger than 15 inches in diagonal and the volume is usually larger than 100 per order. Thus the TED licensees are in different industries and the licensing agreement are different. Be sure to contact the licensee in your market of interest. Market applications outside these two areas are of great interest to TED as well as to the licensees.

RESIZING LIMITATIONS

The performance of a resized LCD is warranted to be the same as LCD before the application of the process except for the size. All of the same LCD materials and electronics are used. Only a portion of the display glass and corresponding electrical circuitry is removed. The electrical interface, optics and performance is unaltered. Electronic components are cut off also without altering the performance. Chips and TABs can be cut from the LCD glass but the chips and TABS cannot be dissected. This presents some limitation on the options where the display can be cut as can be seen in the diagram shown here.

TED specializes in developing and prototyping custom sizes for customers with minimal NRE.
